Nepita: a life project, between family roots and contemporary vision

Reading time: minutes

A renovation project by DAA Studio, where ceramic material becomes a narrative.

Immersed among centuries-old pines and olive trees on the Iblean hills, a country house has been reborn thanks to a renovation project that weaves together memory, craftsmanship, and contemporary design. The concept, curated by DAA Studio, has transformed a 1990s home into a welcoming and meaningful holiday house, where every detail tells a story.

The choice of Ragno materials was guided by the desire to combine technical performance with aesthetic value, in harmony with the spirit of the project. The ceramic surfaces were carefully selected to harmonize with the spaces and atmospheres:

For the floors, the Realstone PietrAntica Beige collection in the 60×120 cm size was used, giving visual continuity and a natural tone to the rooms.

The monolithic fireplace was clad with Mélange Bordeaux square tiles in the 10×10 cm format, creating a warm and tactile focal point in the living area.

For the bathroom, Look Ocra and Look Avio coverings were chosen, both in the 6×24 cm size, for the shower and sink, with a color palette that recalls the tones of earth and sky.

The project preserved the original architectural lines, highlighting the curved volumes and sloping roofs. The three functional blocks of the house were differentiated with color on the facade: ottanio green cocciopesto for the kitchen, raw ochre for the sleeping area, and ivory white for the living area. Lava stone, used for thresholds and steps, creates a bold contrast, echoed in the interior cladding of the pool.

Inside, the reorganization of the spaces made it possible to create three bedrooms with private bathrooms, one of which has a panoramic terrace on the first floor, accessible via an original spiral staircase.

The furnishings, many of which were custom-designed by the owners, reflect an artisanal and personal vision of the project. Family objects have been reinterpreted: a weaving loom has become a lamp, oil cans serve as garden furniture, and old plumbing components were transformed into vases. Every element is part of an intimate and authentic narrative.
