Imperfect surfaces, traditional workmanship, and constantly changing materials. The current trend is to surround yourself with products that stimulate your senses by enticing you to touch. Thanks to their unique qualities, today handmade ceramics are perceived as something authentic, related to nature rather than to the artificial world. There is a growing desire to rediscover this material in its purest form, where imperfection and small flaws become an added value. Homes are enriched with warm, enveloping finishes, products that tell a story and help create comfortable atmospheres.
The tiny imperfections and slight shades that enhance the material are what makes the Look collection unique. It is one of ten Ragno collections in the Storie series: a range of small-size tiles that pays tribute to the history of ceramics and handcrafted decoration.
Specifically, with regard to the plain tiles, Look’s color palette is enriched with two new very saturated and bright colors – Verde and Turchese – and a more neutral shade – Lino – tending to beige.
The collection is also expanded with the 3D Yubi Structure, inspired by the classic ‘fingers’ mosaic of the Oriental tradition. Produced in three new colors and a series of shades from the existing range – Bianco, Oliva, Avio and Blu – its 6×24 cm size appears to be subdivided into three bars with a very gentle, rounded ingot shape. The piece’s patterning is also in three sections to reinforce this division, with irregularities along the edges of the scored lines.
The typical 6×24 cm brick tile in the Look series, with straight edges for a rectified effect, enhances the artisan character of an industrially obtained product.
On durable and long-lasting porcelain stoneware, with 10 mm thickness for the plain tiles and 13.5 mm for the 3D structure, the glaze can simulate handmade processes such as burns and wear along the contours, as well as color and gloss variations on the glassy component, creating interplays of light on surfaces that add vibrant warmth and personality to interiors.
The random installation pattern, combining variants that differ from each other in tone and surface patterning, gives an even more ‘imperfect’ effect to sophisticated wall and floor compositions. Moreover, the brick size is very versatile, as it can be installed both horizontally and vertically, in a herringbone pattern, or on volumes, furniture, counters and washbasins, including those with circular shapes. Due to its specific nature as a traditional architectural material, it is also ideal for façade coverings outdoors.
Small sizes increasingly play with versatile installations with different textures. The Look series is further enhanced by the combination with the numerous Ragno collections, such as the stone effect of Stoneplay, Realstone_Ceppo and Travertino Wall in combination with Realstone_Travertino, or the more neutral concrete effect of Stratford, the rustic wood effect of Inedito or the elegant marble effect of Incanto.
